Dimitar Spasenoski, International NGOs Council (INGOC), expressed that INGOC is a coordination body of 26 international NGOs in Macedonia that cooperate with domestic NGOs, UN agencies and government representatives. At the moment, ICNGO in cooperation with OCHA prepares a database for the activities realized by NGOs, sellected by sectors and organizations, as well as database of planned activities for the upcoming period. INGOC also prepares a transition programme from humanitarian to development activities, as well as donor conference of international NGOs that should be held in February 2002.

Rahmani Memedali, Mesecina, asked how involved are the domestic organizations in the projects planned by the international NGOs and asked the INGOC representative, on the upcoming donors' conference to be considered the quality of the work and the capacity of the domestic organizations.

Bajram Sulejmani, Natura, emphasized that the international organizations should consider the work of the domestic organizations more seriously, and to support their activities.

Conclusion

The organizations - members of NGO Humanitarian Coordination will make additional contacts with INGOC representatives that should contribute towards further cooperation between these two bodies, and between domestic and international organizations in order to better respond to the humanitarian needs, progressive development and promotion of civil society in Macedonia.

Ad. 3

Ajet Ameti, Coordination Body from Tetovo, said that the citizens of Tetovo are facing many difficulties in their everyday lives, because the crisis affected everyone. Basic supplies are needed and the citizens need assistance of any kind (food, clothes, money, repair of objects etc.).

Ahmed Jasarevski, Drom, said that one of the major problems in Kumanovo are high school students (ethnic Albanians) that are attending classes in primary school facilities.

Bajram Sulejmani, Natura, noted that even besides the successful normalization of the situation in the Lipkovo region, the social gap between the citizens is deepening. The need for basic supplies is rising as the food distribution in the region is decreasing. Also, the situation with the IDPs from the mountain villages in the Kumanovo region (Tanusevci, Brest etc) is alerting, because they are settled at socially endangered families in Kumanovo and Skopje and nobody mentions them nor proposes whatever plan for their return and their future status.

Aleksandar Krzalovski, MCIC answered part of the questions and introduced some activities planned for the next period by the relevant institutions involved in humanitarian activities.

Conclusion

1. Directions for further action. Members of NGO Humanitarian Coordination should consider priorities in order to define the needs and the aspects of successful action of domestic organizations with their activities.

The meeting started at 14:00 and finished at 15:15 o'clock.
