UNMAO update The three ITF clearance teams are working in Strima, Lukare and are expected to finish in Matejce. The teams will be deployed next in the villages of Gosince and Nikustak. The ITF clearance teams will be engaged until the end of June. The Civil Protection is expecting around forty trained national deminers by the end of June. The Memoranda of Understanding have been signed on the 19th of April thus enabling the deployment of international clearance teams. OCHA prepared a document where the summary of the project has been layed out and a consolidated budget and the priority list for clearance is attached. This document was submitted to the Donor community and awaits approval. The priorities for clearance were set according to certain criteria and those would include areas of spontaneous return, araes where reconstruction has been hampered due to the threat posed by mines or UXO, and finally, areas where the police has to be redeployed. Mine Awareness ICRC has launched the TV clip aimed for the younger population as a part of the third phase of the Mine Awareness programme. The clip serves as an introduction to the fourth phase of the campaign which forsees a theatre play. On a press conference ICRC presented the clip and distributed tapes to the TV stations and so far the feedback has been outstanding. ICRC teams have also visited the villages of Alasevce and Strima and in Gosince and Lukare ICRC has a mine awareness instructor that covers the region.
