Agenda:
Reconstruction/Rehabilitation
Solidarites
provided data about the conditions of the schools in Strima, Rankovce and
Runica: the school in Strima has no damage; Rankovce school has no damage
and is functioning; the school in Runica has been burned down, but there
are 11 pupils there attending classes in private house.
CRS informed
that they have completed the rehabilitation of the schools in Lopate and
PS "25 Maj" - Cento, Skopje.
ECHO will
share the updated list of assessed schools by tomorrow (25 January) and
then the group can discuss about priority schools. At the moment the
schools in Gosince and Brest are considered as priority schools for
rehabilitation.
There are 24
children currently in Brest; the school is clear from mines and UXOs, but
it has been badly damaged in the conflict.
There is
still no data about the conditions of the schools in Mojance, Gajre,
Dvorci and Vejce; World Vision informed that the school in Orlance has no
conflict damage, but is in a very bad condition.
Italian
Cooperation will decide whether or not they will rehabilitate the
committed schools (Slupcane-main building; Aracinovo-new part of the
school) on Tuesday; if they withdraw those schools will be proposed to
other interested agencies.
UNICEF
informed that the Japanese Government is interested in rehabilitation of
schools in the conflict area.
It was
mentioned that the Donor Conference for Macedonia will take place in 2–3
weeks.
The Ministry
of Education and Science will be informed about the future activities
after the Working Group decides on priority schools for rehabilitation.
The
rehabilitation list will be updated and attached to the minutes.
Refugees
UNICEF
informed that the certificates for the refugee children that finished the
previous school year in the school in Radusa were signed.
UNICEF will
support the employment of one more teacher in the school for adults "Macarenko",
since the school director is ready to accept more refugee adults that are
willing to attend classes there.
UNICEF is
ready to cover refugee children and women with ECCD, Health Education and
Youth Projects.
AOB
It was agreed
that all agencies submit the updates on their rehabilitation work to
UNICEF on Thursday 31st January by 3:00 p.m. so that the
rehabilitation list could be updated and shared for better co-ordination.
