Return of displaced persons in Lipkovo
Kumanovo, September 28th 2001
In order to facilitate the return of displaced
persons from Lipkovo, a Committee for Organised Return has recently been
established. The Committee is headed by Rexhep Shaqiri. It has already
established cooperation with the Crises Management Centre concerning the
organised return of displaced persons. The Committee requested a permit
for about 7.000 displaced persons to return. In order to achieve that,
the Committee also asked for free movement, free use of the roads to Lojane,
Lipkovo and Nikustak, regular bus line between Lipkovo and Kumanovo, as
well as provision of humanitarian aid for the returnees. It is expected
that the necessary conditions will be achieved soon.
