Police redeployment in Tetovo region completed
The patrolling of the multiethnic police patrols ends in Tetovo villages - Poroj, Dzepciste, Gjermo, Vejce, Semsovo, Ozormiste, Palatica and Trebos. Bricks and Lime for Reconstruction of Houses in Brest

The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees distributes firewood for the population in the crisis regions, as well as for IDPs from Tanusevci settled at host families. UNICEF distributed textbooks, school bags, notebooks, gums and pencils for the pupils from the primary schools that attend classes in the crisis regions of Kumanovo and Tetovo, and the Skopje villages of Ljuboten, Aracinovo and Radusa. Mine removal continues
Mine removal team was on the field, searching for and defusing mines and other explosive devices in Leshok village yesterday, while another team was in Tearce. The activities of demining the railroad track Tetovo-Radusha are under way, where about 2.200 meters have been checked so far. Search for explosive devices was also done in Kumanovo region, in Opae and Matejche villages.

4000 families are going to get 70 DEM per month each, in a project funded by the Swiss government, organized by Swiss Disaster Relief (SDR). The project is a retroactive programme and will cover the period from May to August this year. The payment should commence from November 5th. More »

Humanitarian Aid for Lipkovo and Selce residents
The humanitarian organization "El Hilal" distributed humanitarian aid for the inhabitants of Lipkovo, which consisted of 650 blankets, 600 mattresses, as well as winter clothing. At the same time, 150 packages for returnees (blankets, mattresses, plastic tarpaulins, water reservoirs, kitchenware and hygienic supplies) for the residents of Selce, Tetovo region.

Ceramic tiles for the damaged roofs in Radusa
Macedonian Center for International Cooperation in the framework of its Repair of Houses Programme, on October 23 and 27 distributed 7,500 ceramic tiles for the damaged roofs in the war conflicts in the village of Radusa. A total of 110 beneficiaries have been included with the aid distribution.

The evaluation process of the first category damaged houses in Matejce has been completed

In the village of Matejce, Kumanovo, the Macedonian Center for International Cooperation completed the evaluation of all 180 damaged houses of first category and the school. The distribution of building materials for repair of the damaged houses should start soon.

MCIC and El Hilal distributed parcels for returnees

Damage assessment in Tetovo region carried out
A team from the Macedonian Center for International Cooperation accompanied by two architects paid a visit to the villages in Tetovo region, where assessment of damaged houses and schools was made. Assessment of schools in Slatino, Glogji and Nerashte, as well as houses of houses from first and second category in Belovishte, Rogachevo, Belovishte and Glogji was carried out. More »


FAO and US Government provide refunding resources for damages in the agriculture

United Nations' Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) provided the distribution of first shipments with winter seed wheat and artificial fertilizers, which is aid for Macedonian agriculture workers from areas affected by conflict and famine. The project, which is scheduled to start tomorrow, is in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture, Forests and Water supply, Macedonian Agriculture associations and humanitarian organisations "Care" and "Actetd".

Experts started demining roads in Tetovo area
Two teams comprising of 50 experts from Bosnia and Slovenia, started the search and removal of explosive devices in Tetovo region. They are checking out the roads Leshok - Zhilche, Jegunovce-Prshovce and other crossroads in Tearce, Jegunovce and Dzhepchishte municipalities. Demining of local roads, as well as roads in areas affected by conflicts is scheduled for this week.

IMG data from damage assessment now available
International Management Group (IMG) finished assessment of the damages caused by armed conflict in Macedonia, from March till September 2001. Around 60% of damaged objects and infrastructure (houses, schools, ambulanta, electric and water supply systems) were assessed by IMG. For the areas that were not visited by IMG, estimation of damages was done.

The possibilities for repair of damaged schools in the crisis regions were identified on the last education coordination meeting held in UNICEF. In the first phase ten schools (total 12 objects) will be repaired, while nine (13 objects) are given second priority. More »

A one-day workshop named "Rapid assessment of health condition in affected areas", organized by the Ministry of health and World Health Organisation took place yesterday.
