17-23 December
On December 18, the European Center for Minority Issues
from Germany promoted the network of non-governmental organizations that
aim to improve interethnic relations in Macedonia. Starting from January
2002, total of six regional centers will become operational - in Skopje,
Tetovo, Gostivar, Bitola, Kumanovo and Stip. Each regional center will
include per 15 organizations.
On December 22-23, the Center for Interethnic Tolerance
and Refugees organized a seminar in Skopje, focusing on restoration of
trust among the citizens from Aracinovo municipality
8-14 October
A two-day seminar titled as "Freedom of expression
in democratic society and the role of the media and the courts: Implementation
of Article 10 from the European convention for human rights" took
place in Skopje on October 15th. The seminar is organized by the Courts'
Association in the Republic of Macedonia - Center for continuous education,
the Council of Europe - Department of Human Rights and the Council of
Europe Information Office in Skopje.
27 August - 2 September
The MCIC, together with other local NGOs started with
the distribution of the "Information and legal support for internally
displaced population" leaflet.
The Institute for Sociological, Political and Juridical Research institute
promoted the Macedonian and Albanian translations of the "Head rules
for internal displacement" yesterday. (published by UN OSNA).
20-26 August
In cooperation with the Red Cross and the Ministry of
labor and social politics, MCIC prepared and published a brochure with
the title "Informational and legal support for internally displaced
persons". The circulation is 15,000 copies (8,000 in Macedonian).
The text of the brochure is written in consultation with UNHCR and IOM.
30 July -5 August
The "Informative and Legal Support for the Internally
Displaced Persons" brochure has been completed and followed on to
review.
23-29 July
On MCIC initiative, an "Information and legal support
for IDPs" brochure has been prepared.
16-22 July
On MCIC initiative, an "Informative and Legal Support
for the Internally Displaced Persons" brochure is being prepared.
MCIC succeeded to locate three persons, ethnic Macedonians, missing about
twenty days in the area of Radusa.
9-15 July
On MCIC initiative, an "Informative and Legal Support

MCIC requested information from the ICRC for that purpose.
3-8 July

Cross (ICRC) for that purpose.
24 June - 3 July
MCIC continues initiating the dialogue between the churches
and religious communities in Macedonia. After the meeting in Geneva with
the World Council of Churches (WCC), the working group, made of representatives
of the churches and religious communities, held a meeting in MCIC, where
the impressions of the WCC talks were discussed and a new meeting with
a more concrete conclusions for the future activities was appointed.
MCIC considers the possibility of responding to the
information needs of the internally displaced persons (info line for humanitarian
issues, web site, paid advertisements in the media), as well as for peace
building and conflict resolution measures, and preparedness for emergency
operations.
