UNMAO update ITF continues with the clearance work in Macedonia, namely in Nikustak and Gosince. Their contract is due to expire on the 30 June when the only teams on ground will be the newly trained Civil Protection members. The accident which involved two TFF members was also reported by the Mine Action Officer. With regard to the funding of the clearance programme, a feedback from the donor community is still expected. Mine Awareness ICRC announced the fourth phase of the Mine Awareness campaign i.e the theatre piece. ICRC has already planned 80-100 performances until October. Regarding the Mine Awareness training of the police, the first 100 members of the police forces have completed the training. During the month of February ICRC has held 60 Mine Awareness presentations in Tetovo, Skopje and Kumanovo. Shortly before the ITF clearance teams started work in Lukar, an instructor was identified and suitably trained to carry out Mine Awareness presentations for the local population. Finally, the new printed material was announced, namely the poster for the theatre performance with the Sara dog as a new emblem. AOB The next Mine Action Co-ordination meeting will be held on the 27th of May, 15:00h, in the UNMAO premises.
