The Office of the World Food
Program cancelled its work on June 1.
The international Committee
of the Red Cross continues with the distribution of food for all IDPs who
have registration cards from the Red Cross.
20 May - 26 May
The office of the World Food Program
will be closed by the end of May. The distribution of food for the IDPs,
host-families and socially threatened persons will continue through ECHO
until July. The distribution of food for the IDPs will continue until
November.
13 May - 19 May
The IFRC and Intersos distributed
food and hygiene packages for 3,636 IDPs in the Tetovo area.
1 April - 7 April
On April 4, the French embassy and
the "Zegin" company distributed flour and medicines for 100 households in
Lesok and 100 in Lipkovo.
The MCRC continues with the regular
distribution of food packages for the displaced persons.
25 March - 31 March
In March, the MCRC distributed
humanitarian assistance for 2,927 IDPs accommodated in the collective
centers. Assistance from the winter program for micro-displaced persons
was distributed to 3,337 persons in Tetovo and 197 in Skopje. A
three-month distribution was carried out in the villages Malina Mala,
Brest, Goshince, Lukare, Rankovce, Presnica, Strima, Alasevce and Runica,
where assistance for 733 users was distributed.
18 March - 24 March
The municipality Red Cross organization from Ohrid
provided humanitarian assistance for the first two months of this year to
the IDPs accommodated in this town. The assistance includes food packages,
hygiene packages and flour.
On March 20, the Tetovo Red Cross
started with the distribution of humanitarian assistance for the IDPs from
the Tetovo area. This assistance will cover 3,690 persons. Intersos
provided the food packages, the American Red Cross provided the hygiene
packages and the Danish Red Cross provided the baby packages.
The ICRC reported that the second
distribution for micro-displaced persons included 3,753 persons, of whom
3,556 in Tetovo and 197 in Skopje. The March distribution for the
collective centers including 2,870 persons has been completed.
11 March - 17 March
The Macedonian Committee
of the Red Cross carried out distribution of humanitarian packages for 520 persons
who live in the villages Malina Mala and Brest. The assistance is composed
of flour, food and hygiene products and baby-food.
The El Hilal, i.e. its
branch offices from Gostivar and Veles, donated five tones of flour for
the displaced persons from Skopska Crna Gora and eight tones for the
citizens of Lipkovo.
4 March - 10 March
ICRC started
the second distribution of food parcels for 3.500 beneficiaries within
their programme for "micro-displaced". The distribution was carried out in
Skopje and Tetovo. The distribution of food to IDPs in collective centre
is currently under way.
25 February - 3 March
The distribution of food
for IDPs (Intersos) and persons who have returned (AAH) is proceeding
regularly through the Red Cross of Macedonia.
18 February - 24 February
The branch of El hilal in Struga
distributed 50 t of aid in food, hygienic products and clothes for the
population of the municipality of Lipkovo. The branch of El hilal from
Gostivar distributed 20 t of food and hygienic products in the villages of
Ropaljce and Otlja. On February 20, El hilal distributed food and hygienic
products parcels to 50 inhabitants of Bitola.
Red Cross of Tetovo concluded the
February distribution of food and hygienic parcels to 3.690 families from
this town.
The "Mother Teresa" humanitarian
organisation from Struga distributed 18 t of food and hygienic parcels to
the inhabitants of the Lipkovo municipality. The aid consisted of 10 t of
flour, 300 kg potatoes, 1.800 kg of powder milk, 300 l of oil, 400 kg
sugar, 330 blankets, 10.000 pieces of soap and 200 pieces of shampoo.
In February, ICRC distributed food
to 2.871 IDPs accommodated in collective centres, as well as to 4.801
micro-displaced persons in Skopje and Tetovo.
11 February - 17 February
Humanitarian organization "Milosrdie" distributed humanitarian aid
comprised of food to the displaced persons in the crisis regions and the
residents in the villages in the mountains that were cut off for a longer
period of time due to the heavy snow falls.
During last week El Hilal distributed five tons of food and hygiene
products in Radusa on February 16, ten tons in Orizare on February 17 and
50 tons in Lipkovo on February 17.
The Red Cross of city of Skopje from February 11 to February 22 will
distribute humanitarian aid to the displaced persons placed in the host
families.
MCIC last weeek provided 150 tons of oranges in Skopje, Tetovo and
Kumanovo region. Through the Macedonian Red Cross oranges for IDP’swere
distributes, in collective centres, social institutions, and through local
NGO’s to IDP’s in host families and for returnees in crisis regions.
4 February - 10 February
On February 8, the humanitarian organization El Hilal distributed 15t. of
food and hygiene products for the people in the village of Orizare in the
Kumanovo area.
28 Januar - 3 February
The International Committee of the Red Cross during January distributed
food aid to those IDPs accommodated in collective centres as well as to
approximately 4,800 micro-displaced persons in Skopje and Tetovo. The ICRC
food package contains 12 kilograms of flour, one kg of beans, 1 kg of
sugar, 1 kg of rise, 1 litre of eatable oil, 0,25 kg of salt, 1 kg of
macaroni, 0.1 kg of yeast and 0,25 kg of sardines.
The AAH distributed food for approximately 14,700 needy residents of
villages in the conflict-affected areas.
The Intersos distributed assistance for 13,500 IDPs accommodated in
host-families. The food packages contain 20 kg of flour, 2 kg or rise, 2
kg of sugar, 2 litres of vegetable oil and 2 kg of macaroni.
On January 28, El Hilal distributed 10 tons of food for the Lipkovo
municipality. The same organization distributed additional 10 tons in
Slupcane on January 31.
17-23 December
The Ministry of Finance, through the Red Cross, started
with distribution of food and hygiene products for IDPs accommodated in
Tetovo. This assistance will cover approximately 5,400 households. The
Development Bank of the Council of Europe donated the funds needed for
realization of this project.
26 November - 2 December
The humanitarian organization El Hilal is distributing
food packages for the displaced persons in the villages Malino, Tanusevci
and Brest, 100 packages in each village, Mojance - 180, and Lavce - 200.
On November 29, this organization distributed 17 tones of assistance in
food (flour, rise, salt, sugar, macaroni, eatable oil) and hygiene products
at Lipkovo municipality.
The Natira organization from Kumanovo carried out a distribution of 625
kilograms of flour for 12 families in the village of Presnica and 13 families
in Kumanovo.
19-25 November
The El Hilal humanitarian organization distributes assistance
composed of elementary food products and hygiene products to Lipkovo area
- 12 tones and to the host families in Tetovo - 5 tones.
The WFP reported that 45,000 users would receive food assistance during
November. InterSos and Action against Hunger cover the needs of the IDPs
who are not registered by the ICRC. The ICRC continues to distribute assistance
in food for the collective centers.
12-18 November
The humanitarian organization
El Hilal distributed food and nonfood supplies for the inhabitants in
the villages near Skopje and Kumanovo. On November 14 the Prilep branch
of El Hilal distributed 2.5 tons of food and hygiene supplies in Aracinovo,
while the Gostivar branch distributed 15 tons assistance for the inhabitants
of Lipkovo. On November 15, 15 tons assistance of basic food and hygiene
supplies were distributed in Vaksince.
Intersos continues with the distribution of basic food for 4,300 persons.
MPDL distributed basic food for the refugees and 1,000 families that sheltered
them.
5-11 November
The ICRC/MCRC have completed the distribution of food
products that included 8,000 users from the village of Aracinovo. Since
the beginning of October, assistance was provided to 82,000 persons from
the regions impacted by the crisis.
The WFP completed the evaluation for the needs of food, sponsored by ECHO
and realized by Action against Hunger with support from WFP.
On November 6-7, the Spanish humanitarian organization MPDL carried out
distribution of fresh food packages, donation from ECHO, to the collective
centers in Katlanovo and Suto Orizari. The distributed food packages include
milk, canned meat, canned fish, cheese and onions. 540 humanitarian packages
were distributed in Katlanovo and 1220 in Suto Orizari. 600 packages for
IDPs and 150 packages for host-families were distributed through the "Macedonia"
organization of the Serb and Macedonian community in Macedonia.
29 October - 4 November
The branch of El Hillal from
Gostivar distributed 10 tons of basic food products for the residents
of the village of Vishtica on 1st November.
"Mesecina" from the region of Gorna Reka distributed 100 packages
of humanitarian aid (food and hygienic parcels).
ICRC distributed food packages to 18,000 persons out of which 11,400 are
for IDP that are sheltered in host families, 2,800 IDPs that are sheltered
in collective centers, 3,800 for people who are from the crises regions.
22-28 October
The humanitarian organization El Hilal has distributed
humanitarian aid of 43 tons of foods and basic hygienic products in Vaksince,
Hasan Beg and to displaced families in Tetovo, on 22, 26 and 28 October.
"Klasje na dobrinata" has distributed family packages for 120
families in Skopje. A package contains 3 kilograms of flour, oil, sugar,
rice, pasta, 10 soaps, 5 detergents ("Biljana") and diapers.
Teams of ICRC on 23 October visited Goshince on Skopska Crna Gora where
around 200 persons who have returned to their homes need help.
15-21 October
El Hilal distributed 60 tons of assistance, namely food
and hygiene products, to the villages of Lipkovo, Vaksince, Slupcane and
in the Kumanovo region.
8-14 October
El Hilal continues with the distribution of food and
hygiene products in the regions impacted by the crisis Last week, El Hilal
distributed 75 tones in the villages Selce and Lipkovo, 7,4 tones to Drenovec
and 16,5 tones in Dvorce and Radusa.
The "Milosrdie" carried out distribution of food packages for
the collective centers: 96 packages to Olympic village collective center,
140 to Pelagonija, 230 to Stiv Naumov, 34 to Ranka Milanovic, 52 to Tome
Senic, 46 to Partenij Zografski, 30 to May 25th, 47 to Zdravko Cvetkovski
and 14 to Megjasi.
The MCIC distributed 10 tons of fooder to the villages Otlja and Matejce.
1-7 October
The Turkish Red Crescent Society, in cooperation
with ICRC and the Macedonian Red Cross, donated 25,000 US dollars worth
of food products for 1000 families displaced from the crisis regions.
El Hilal distributed approximately 70 tons of food and hygiene products
for the villages of Vaksince, Matejce, Orizare, Vistica, Brodec, Selce
and the Cair town district.
Natyra distributed 2 tons of flour for the people of Vaksince.
WFP evaluates the nutritive needs for the affected population (IDP in
the collective centers, IDP in host families, people who have returned,
as well as people which stayed ceaselessly in the crisis regions).
24-30 September
El Hilal distributed 20 tons food stuffs and hygiene
articles for the Lipkovo municipality.
MCIC distributed a total of 8.7 tons of flour, 8.5 tons of animal food,
600 kg of sugar, 600 liters of cooking oil, 300 kg salt and hygiene articles
to the villages of Lukovica, Urvic, Jelovjane, Jegunovce, Slatino and
Lesok.
17-23 September
The humanitarian organisation El Hilal distributed
mainly food products and hygienic material for the population in the crises
regions, as well as in Aracinovo and Brnjarci. A total of 10 t of food
were taken to Radusa, 20 t to Lipkovo 4 t to Germo, 11 t to Aracinovo
and 3 t to Brnjarci.
ICRC distributed food parcels and floor to 160 families in the municipality
of Sipkovica on September 18.
On September 20, UNHCR distributed 50 food parcels, blankets and tents
to 50 families from the village of Ljuboten.
MCIC distributed aid for the inhabitants of the villages Ratae and Zilce
on September 20. The aid consisted of 3.374 kg of floor, 810 l of oil,
540 kg of sugar and 270 kg of salt.
10-16 September
The WFP - World Food Program,
in cooperation with AAH - Action Against Hunger, made an evaluation for
the needs of food in the Skopje and Tetovo regions last week. They paid
a visit to the villages of Aracinovo, Strasince, Dobroste and Vratnica.
The El Hilal distributed assistance in food, hygiene products for Radusa
(3,7t.), Bitola (10t. of flower) and Tetovo villages Rogle, Cerovo and
Selce (6t.).
The MCIC on September 14th distributed 8t. of elementary food products
(flower, oil, sugar and salt) to 130 families in the villages Urvice and
Jelovjane.
3-9 September
Convoy for Vratnica and Orasje.
The MCIC and Cooperacione Italiana - office for emergency interventions
of the Italian Embassy in Skopje organized a convoy with humanitarian
assistance for Vratnica and Orasje. The humanitarian assistance was composed
of food products, vegetables, cattle food, hygiene products, baby food
and dippers. The MCIC, through its partner Natira, also submitted assistance
composed of food and hygiene products to the Lipkovo municipality.
The El Hilal submitted assistance in food and hygiene products to Lipkovo,
Germo, Neprosteno and Ljuboten.
27 August - 2 September
UNHCR assistance for the displaced
people from Ljuboten.
On the 29th of August, in the Cair town district, UNHCR distributed
humanitarian assistance to 43 displaced people from Ljuboten village,
near Skopje. The assistance consisted of blankets, mattresses, hygiene
articles and kitchen supplies.
The branch office of the organization "Spike of Goodness" from
Skopje started to distribute food assistance for the month of August to
the displaced population of the crisis regions, sheltered in Skopje families.
On the 27th of August, the Natira NGO from Kumanovo started to distribute
flour for 1000 families (25 kg for each family).
On the 31st of August, ICRC distributed assistance for the Tearce community
(Neprosteno and Slatino), and the Lipkovo municipality. It comprised family
and individual packages of food, wheat flour and baby formula.
20-26 August
Aid for the displaced persons.
A convoy for Vratnica, Jazince and Sipkovica.
On August 22nd, 4 domestic NGOs: El Hilal, Milosrdie, Klasje na dobrinata
and MCIC organized a convoy of seven trucks with humanitarian aid for
the denizens of Vratnica, Jazince and Sipkovica. Four trucks were intended
for Vratnica, one for Jazince and two for Sipkovica. The aid comprised
basic food, fresh vegetables, hygienic products and cattle food.
MCIC supplied basic food to the kitchens of the collective centers "1
Maj", "25 Maj" in Skopje and "Negorski Banji"
in Gevgelija. It also distributed 25 tons of flour for the IDP accommodated
in 400 families in Kumanovo.
El Hilal performs distribution of 610 packages with hygiene items, provided
by DRC (Danish Refugee Council), for IDP accommodated in host families,
305 packages in Tetovo and 305 packages in Skopje.
The Skopje Red Cross opened storage where displaced persons that have
a record document from any community organization, can take clothes supplied
by numerous national humanitarian organizations.
SAZM (League of Albanian women in Macedonia) performs distribution of
humanitarian aid for 103 families from private donations from Tetovo.
13-19 August
Aid for the displaced persons
An El Hilal convoy to Shipkovica. On August 14, after four months of isolation,
the humanitarian aid El Hilal convoy, comprising five lorries (48 tons)
elementary food supplies and medications arrived in the township Shipkovica.
The aid is provided for the villages Shipkovica, Lisec, Gayre, Bozovce
and Veshala, where, at the moment, there are about five thousand citizens,
ethnic Albanians.
An ICRC convoy forVratnica, Jazhince and Shipkovica. On August 15 ICRC
delivered aid for Vratnica and Jazhince including elementary food stuffs
(24 tons of flour, cooking oil, yeast), while for Shipkovica it provided
900 family packs, 80 baby packs and 21.6 tons of flour.
MCIC delivere elementary food supplies for the needs of the common canteens
in the collective centers "25th May" and "1st May"
in Skopje and for the CC Negorski Banji in Gevgelija.
6-12 August
Aid for the displaced persons.
An MCIC convoy for Vratnica and Jazhince. On August
7th MCIC managed to supply aid for the denizens of community Vratnica
after the unsuccessful attempt from August 4th. The aid comprised 15 tons
of basic products. At the starting point (the gasoline station "Petrol
company" near Tetovo) four of the six trucks went back because of
the insecurity of the drivers in the road Tetovo - Jazhince. The convoy
was stopped at the village Dzepchishte, from the local population, ethnic
Albanians, and after two hours, was let through with mediation of the
EU monitoring mission. The aid arrived for community Vratnica (for the
villages Vratnica, Belovishte, Staro Selo and Rogachevo), inhabited by
ethnic Macedonians, and a part was delivered in the village Jazhince (for
Jazhince and Orashje), inhabited by ethnic Albanians. A part of the aid
in fresh food (potatoes, paprika, cabbage) that was supposed to be delivered
in Vratnica and Jazhince, was redirected to the IDPs settled in Pelagonija
and Olympian village.
The Shipkovica convoy was returned. On August 11th El
Hilal was supposed to supply food and medication for the community Shipkovica.
Although it had all necessary documents and a permit from the coordination
body for managing crises, because o9f security reasons, at the last police
security point, it was not allowed to continue further.
MCKC convoys. The convoys planned for Shipkovica (with
medications) and for Vratnica and Jegunovce (with food and medications)
because of security reasons did not reach their final destination.
30 July - 5 August
Aid for the Municipality of Vratnica.
In the convoy for the villages of Lesok, Neprosteno and Tearce, on July
31 2001, after 15 day of isolation, food aid was distributed for the inhabitants
of the villages of Vratnica, Beloviste and Staro Selo.
Aid for the displaced persons.
From August 6 to 21, 2001, ICRC and the Red Cross from Tetovo shall conduct
its third aid distribution for IDPs registered in May and June 2001.
MCIC distributed food for the newly arrived IDPs in the collective centre
in Dojran.
Humanitarian convoy for the Municipality
of Lipkovo. After 9 days of waiting for permission, El Hilal distributed
62 tons of food for the inhabitants of the Municipality of Lipkovo. Aid
provided the organization Mother Theresa as well. MCIC, through Natyra
joined the convoy on August 1, 2001, and distributed 18 tons of food items
and 10 tons of food for the livestock.
Klasje na dobrinata distributed
food and hygiene supplies for 700 families in Kumanovo and 1780 families
in Skopje. 12 tons of food has been distributed in Skopje.
23-29 July
Aid for the displaced persons. ICRC distributed humanitarian
aid in the Panorama hotel for IDPs from Tetovo area, and also started
basic food supplies and medicine distributions in the Tetovo villages,
wherefrom inhabitants were forced out a week ago.
Red Cross of the City of Skopje started humanitarian
aid distributions for displaced persons form Skopska Crna Gora, Tetovo
and Kumanovo region. The aid has been distributed in the distribution
points Momin Potok 2 and Nikola Vapcarov Primary School.
Natira distributed food parcels for 1453 displaced families
in Kumanovo.
MCIC distributed food for the collective centre in Dolno
Konjare (for 100 IDPs for 1 month), as well as the newly arrived IDPs
from Tetovo area in the centres Pelagonija (450 IDPs for 1 week) and Stiv
Naumov (300 IDPs for 1 day).
16-22 July
Aid for IDPs. The Red Cross of the city of Skopje started
distribution of humanitarian aid for IDPs in the area of Skopska Crna
Gora, Tetovo and Kumanovo. The aid was distributed in Momin Potok 2 and
"Nikola Vapcarov" primary school.
9-15 July
Distribution for IDPs. The International
Red Cross Committee provided humanitarian aid consisted of 950 parcels
of food and hygiene supplies for the internally displaced persons (IDPs)
settled in the collective centres of Cicino Selo, Zdravko Cvetkovski,
Ranka Milanovic, Senic, Partenie Zografski, Dimitar Vlahov and Stiv Naumov.
ICRC provides parcels with basic food supplies only for the first two
months of the IDPs' registration. After this period, the provision of
aid should be overtaken by some other organization. The Italian organization
Intersos, financed by ECHO might overtake the provision of aid for 18,000
IDPs.
The convoy for Sipkovica waits
for a permission. The humanitarian aid convoy for the villages of the
Municipality of Sipkovica, organized by the ICRC and the humanitarian
organizations "El Hilal" and "Klasje na dobrinata"
still have not attained approval from the Ministry of Internal Affairs
to enter in this area. There are around 5,000 inhabitants in these villages
seeking humanitarian aid because of the two months limited access.
Aid convoy in Municipality of
Lipkovo. On 12th of July, humanitarian aid convoy for the 14,000 inhabitants
(ethnic Albanians) entered in the Municipality of Lipkovo. The convoy
was organized by the humanitarian organizations Natyra (supported by ACT/MCIC),
Jeta, Mother Theresa, Klasje na dobrinata, Merhamet, League of Albanian
Women, and Flora. The aid consisted of 18 trucks with 40 tons of food,
which is enough for 2-3-week needs. The aid will be distributed to the
inhabitants of the villages of Orizare, Lipkovo, Otlja, Slupcane, Vaksince
etc.
Aid for the displaced ethnic Macedonians. Through intermediation of the
Macedonian Orthodox Church, on 12th of July in Tetovo from Germany, arrived
600 parcels of humanitarian aid for the inhabitants (ethnic Macedonians)
from the villages of Setole, Otunje, Jedoarce, Varvara, Brezno and Jelosnik.
These 2,500 persons were forced out to leave their homes by the extremists.
Several Macedonian Church Municipalities, associations and individuals
organized the humanitarian action.
3-8 July
Distribution for IDP. On the 6th of July 2001, MCIC
provided food and hygiene supplies for IDPs in the two collective centres
in Kumanovo: 170 IDPs in Crystal hotel and 130 IDPs in hotel Cuba.
In Cicino Selo, food and hygiene supplies were distributed
for 99 IDPs from the village of Radusa.
MCIC considers the possibility of a wider response to the food needs of
IDPs.
Humanitarian action. A great number of artists are involved
in organizing humanitarian action for the IDPs from 1st of July till 1st
of August. The paintings will be sold on an auction and the means collected
will be for the children from the displaced families.
Aid convoy to Sipkovica Municipality. The working group
of "El hilal" from Tetovo and "Klasje na dobrinata",
since last Wednesday are expecting permission from the Ministry of Internal
Affairs and Ministry of Defence to enter in the Municipality of Sipkovica,
10 km away from Tetovo. The aid convoy has been stopped for security reasons.
24 June - 3 July
Distribution for IDP. The only
organized distributions of food for the displaced persons, so far, are
the ones of the Macedonian Red Cross in cooperation with the International
Red Cross Committee, and MCIC. The supplies are distributed to the collective
centres (MCIC provided initial aid in food and hygiene supplies for covering
20-25-day needs) and to all registered internally displaced persons (MRC/ICRC
with standard packs of basic food and hygiene products).
Convoy in Lipkovo. The humanitarian
organization El Hilal, on the 25 of June 2001, organized the second convoy
for Lipkovo, an area with limited access (in the war conflict zone), with
15,000 civil population. The aid, consist of food (flour, sugar, oil)
and hygiene supplies, was transported by five trucks.
Contributions of the citizens.
Apart from this, many citizens are self-organizing themselves in the collection
of food, cloth and other necessary supplies. The food is usually delivered
to the religious institutions or municipalities, wherefrom it is distributed
on to the collective centres.
The MCIC considers the possibilities of a wider response to the food needs
of the internally displaced persons.
11-24 June
MCIC distributed humanitarian
aid for the internally displaced people. Packages with food and hygiene
products were distributed to 70 displaced families from Aracinovo in the
Municipality of Ilinden. Each family obtained a blanket and a 25 kg bag
with flour. MCIC also participated in the first distribution of humanitarian
aid for Lipkovo. One truck of MCIC aid was part of larger convoy of humanitarian
aid by different local NGO's.
Assessments of the emergency
needs were done in the collective centres, or more precisely, student
homes and public institutions, where around 800 displaced people are settled.
Food and hygiene products, as well as equipment for socialization are
needed in amount of 2 million denars (30,000 EURO) per month.
10 June
At the end of March and the beginning of April 2001,
MCIC had organised the distribution of food and hygiene parcels for 3000
families in Tetovo, Kumanovo, Skopje and several other places, where displaced
people were placed. The distribution was carried out by local partners.
